Preparation continues

Sunday mornings seem to be the time when I get to add to this blog. It is now less than 3 weeks to departure day. It is getting so close and excitement is increasing. Nearly everything that can be organised in advanced has been done. We got the email from the French Railways re booking the TGV from Amiens to CDG Airport and have made the booking - just waiting for the tickets to arrive in the post from Melbourne. I finally got the details of our Battlefields Tour from the organiser of that section of our trip. This morning I booked a Minivan to transfer us from the Southampton Docks to our hotel in London. After a lot of research into trains and methods of getting there, we decided that it would be much less stressful and much more comfortable to "bite the bullet" and pay the BP170.00 fare for the trip. They meet, greet, and transer from door to door for the 2-3 hour journey.

Deb had a nasty reaction to the vaccinations 10 days after the event. It laid her up for 24-36 hours - not nice. I would not like to have the disease if that's what a reaction does. However, she is fine now. We have been juggling her medications to try and get the doseage right, and seem to be nearly there with this. She has a couple more visits to the doctor before we go, to check on doseages, and to get the necessary scripts for what she has to take while away. Carrying a supply of drugs for 10 weeks is like transporting a pharmacy.

Our travel agent in Frankston Victoria emailed us on Friday to say she had sent our travel documents and tickets via express post, and they should arrive on Monday - wow it really sinks in when you get to this stage.

The TV has been commenting a lot lately on all the cruise ships that are arriving in Sydney during February/March - The Queen Victoria was in last week, and the new Arcadia arrived yesterday. Queen Mary 2 arrives next Thursday so Deb and I will take Isabelle down to see her. We saw her 2 years ago when she came in on her maiden voyage. She docks at Garden Island because she is too big for the other docks.
