Day 9 Sunday 22 March 2009 – At Sea

The transit through the Straits of Houmas on our way to Oman, was obviously difficult as at times the ship’s speed dropped to 1 – 2 knots to allow manoeuvring. By morning we have once again turned westward (with the coast on our right). The sea is very calm and there is a little wind.
We go to the Minnows pool on Deck 7 for exercises and it is lovely in the water. 1.3 metre is a good depth for exercises and the water is warm.
As it is Sunday we have decided to be indulgent for breakfast and decided to have the pancakes and blueberries – they were delicious.
We are having a quiet day today – Deb went to the church service in the Royal Court Theatre at 11am – while I worked on photos. In the afternoon Deb went to a lecture on something called Ayurveda – the science of life, and I spent the time watching a movie called The Aviator – the life of Howard Hughes which was very interesting.
Deb and I went for a half hour walk around the deck before getting ready for the concert and dinner. There was a 19 knot breeze blowing which really helped us around one side of the deck, and was like walking into a wall on the other side. We managed to clock up 3 kms in the half hour.
Tonight is Formal – with a Black and White Ball after dinner. There is a concert at 7.00pm with the new singer Emma Sinclair and a Classical Concert for pianist David McGregor after dinner. We will try to fit both in.
At Dubai, the previous lecturers and guest artists left the ship, and a new contingent joined her. Hopefully they will be interesting and entertaining.

  1. hahah...i guess for the public, there isn't really much difference between bacteria and virus, ahahahhah, any ways (either scientific/non-scientific) that they believe can kill the bacteria or virus they will just go ahead to do it....
Maybe it is a psychological issue (like trying to keep things under control despite whether in actual fact it worked or not)...

hahah...today in the news... One recommendation after Garling report is :THE sacking of doctors who repeatedly fail to wash their hands...
